Pre-Fish
The pre-fish is on Saturday, 20 & Sunday 21st of September 2008. Starting time on Saturday is 11h00 at Grassridge Dam. We’re starting on the dam this year, and NOT at the usual place below the dam. The guys (and gals) must therefore please proceed to the dam as they will for the Fish start. The distance we’re going to paddle on the dam will however be considerably shorter than distance covered on race day of the actual Fish. We will start in one batch – and therefore the distance on the dam will be determined by the number of entries. The more entries the longer the section on the dam.
We’re starting in one batch on the dam to make it easier for the lifesavers to finish at Toastrack and then move to Soutpans. Our clubhouse will be open on Friday and Saturday with music and lots of wood for the braai! The entry fee is R80 per day to cover the cost of the lifesavers and timekeepers. Registration will be at our club from 18h00 on Friday (19/09/2008) and also from 09h30 to 10h40 at the Dam on Saturday.
The starting time for Sunday will be 09h00 at Knutsford – normal starting place for day 2 of the Fish. The Cradock weir will, as usual for pre-fish, be a compulsory portage. It may be lifted the Sunday morning depending on the number of SAPS divers available. We don’t however want to make any promises at this stage.
